It's spring .. Finally! Let's go outside!

Hi all   Jen T. here, happy spring!!! Yay! I think I am more excited this spring then any previous ones.. Cause it's been a long winter here! And yay I am excited to do my first post for Speedy Scrappers too!  :) I don't know about you but , I am ready to finally go outside get stuff pretty again. Recently, I got to play with these super fun papers from Moxxie called Child's Play. In the spirit of spring, here is a page I made using the Moxxie papers and diecuts along with yellow stickles,red embroidery thread,red chalk ink, Fancy Pants brads, punched tiny white flowers,  Echo Park lilttle numbers & letters and a embroidered butterfly sticker from my stash .  Tfl!  Happy creating!!  Jen T.

Happy Birthday using Party Day

Hi friends! Emily here today, with a card I made using the fantastic Party Day line by Crate Paper which can be found at Speedy Scrappers. The entire Collection Kit is carried in the store. I can't tell you how much fun this line is, and how much I have created from it. 

I've been working on layouts from my nephew's first birthday, as well as cards for upcoming birthdays in the family. The line is extremely versatile as far as colors go, so its perfect for boys, girls and everyone else.

Free 2B Me using Moxie's Child's Play Collection

Speedy Scrappers in house designer, Karen Anderson created this adorable layout of her son using the Moxie Child's Play collection. The full paper line is available in the store. 

I love how Karen cut strips of the patterned papers for her background. The papers were then distressed with Distress Inks for more dimension so they pop off of the page! I love that photo of her son! So cute!!

Meet the first Speedy Scrappers Design Team !

We are really excited today! We would like to introduce you to the new Speedy Scrappers Design Team. Today we are introducing you to the out of town gals who will be sharing their projects for you here on the blog!!

Allie Gower

Allie Gower is a card maker, jewelry designer, and avid paper crafter. She is a graduate of Ranger University, and holds Copic certification along with being an accredited Spectrum Noir colorist. She moved to Minnesota a few years ago for a change in scenery and loves life surrounded by lakes, rivers and tons of trees. In addition to teaching and designing, Allie is a regular contributor to Die Cut Crazy Magazine. She lives in the Twin Cities in Minnesota with her daughter and two kitties. She can be contacted via her blog, My Card Party.

Ange Weisbeck

 Hello! I'm Angela, but my friends and family call me Ange (Anj). First let me just say how excited I am to be a part of this new team! I am so happy to be joining Speedy Scrappers and can't wait to start creating!!
  I am married with 4 kids and have always loved crafting, but nothing stuck with me quite like scrapbooking has. I just love putting great photos on a page and remembering the fun story behind them while I work. Recently I've started making more cards and I love doing projects, but at heart I'll always be a layout girl.
  Besides scrapping, I love photography, softball and volleyball. I have to be honest, I'd probably drop my layout in a heartbeat to go play a game of softball, but I'd have someone take some pictures for me to scrap later! lol You can see what I'm up to on my blog. Scrapping Compulsion  :)Ange

Joan Liddle

My name is Joan Liddle. I live in northeastern Ohio with my husband and our dog, a chihuahua named Chiquita. Our daughter got married last June and I retired in July, after teaching for 35 years.
I love to scrapbook, make cards, do mixed media pieces, ATC's, art journals and make tags!! I also love using rubber stamps & stencils. My newest obsessions are using a Gelli plate to make prints, doing Project Life and Smashbooking.

I have been papercrafting for about 10 years, have been on many design teams & also have been published quite a few times.

Hi , i am jennifer taylor aka jen t.  or jentmomof3 in the social media world. i am a sahm to my 3 kids,girls age 3 and 11 and boy age 20 months and husband of 14 yrs. i am a avid papercrafter . I love making scrapbook layouts,cards, and home decor using all types of mediums.  I am also super excited to be a part of the speedy scrappers design team and look forward to creating and sharing with you all. Scrapbook Page of the Month - February Layout

Art is Theraputic - Join us in Class

Do you ever just need to get away for some time on your own to create? What about time to just use art as a therapy for your stresses and in the process learn something new? 

If you answered yes, then our new Art Therapy Classes are something you might enjoy! 

Here is a bit about them:

Join us for "Art Therapy" cost is $35. This is a time where you can unwind and learn a great technique. We will teach a technique based on our example. We will provide all the materials. You decide if you want to make your art piece like ours or if you want explore and create your own unique piece. You are welcome to bring in snacks and drinks. 

In most of our Art Therapy sessions you will walk away with a canvas piece, journal page or even a mini album. Class will run three hours, maybe longer, if all are having fun! 

Light snacks and drinks will be provided during class, but you are also welcome to bring your own. 

Space IS limited, and you will receive a FULL table to yourself, so reserve a spot today by calling (618) 526-8500

New Stencils Just In!

Have you stopped in the store recently? If you haven't you definitely should! We just got some new stencils in that we didn't have before from Studio Calico, and also some that we ran out of a while back! We are so excited to have them back in just in time for our upcoming Art Journal Club!!

Art Journal Club at Speedy Scrappers

If you haven't noticed, we have some brand new classes and crops coming up at the store! We are excited to share them with you! There are so many exciting things coming up, we can hardly contain ourselves! 

The first one is our Art Journal Club. How it works is that the club is a 3 month club. With your 3 month membership of $50 you will receive access to an online classroom (private) of art journal lessons. You will also have the opportunity to attend the recording of the class as a sit down class in the store as a part of joining. So even after you take the class in the store, you can re-watch it again on your own time! There will be an additional $5 material charge for in store class participants if you need to use our supplies. You will receive a list of supplies in advance of what we will be using. 

In addition to all of this, you will receive a 20% discount on all supplies used in each class!

Even if you sign up after our first class on February 9th, you will still have access to all of the class videos from the beginning and as they are released. 

Our first class will be on February 9th with myself, Emily. We will be creating a simple Art Journal Page using Distress Paint, Acrylic Paints, stencils and a white pen. 

You can find a lot of stencils available in the Speedy Scrappers Store, including the majority used here! I will provide a detailed list of exact stencils and products for Art Journal Club members. I can't wait to see you in class on the 9th!!

Speedy Scrappers is a brick and mortar scrapooking and mixed media store located in Troy, IL, near the St. Louis metro area. We carry a large selection of scrapbook, mixed media and altered art supplies that is growing weekly. Since we are expanding our online presence, we are having a Design Team Call and we want you!

Do you like to scrapbook? Do you like mixed media or altered arts? Then this is the call for you. We are looking for 5 team members. 3 members must be local to the Troy, IL or St. Louis, MO area so that they can pick up their DT packages and drop off their examples each month. ( You will receive all of your projects when the store is finished, or we can sell them for you if you request!) Our other 2 members do not have to live in the area. We will ship to them.

How to Apply:

1. Your name, address, phone number and email
2. Link to your blog and/or online gallery.
3. Links to any online social media sites you are a part of (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
4. Please send us 4-5 recent examples of your best work. Close ups are encouraged!
5. Tell us about you! What do you consider your specialty? Scrapbooking? Cards? Mixed media?
6. Tell us about the CRAFTY you…Link to your scrapbook resume if you have one? 
7. Why do you want to be a part of the Speedy Scrappers team and what will you bring to the table for it?

Design Team Requirements:

1. All designers are required to make 3-4 projects using the Design Team packages provided each month. Our 3 local designers must drop off their examples by their specific dates. (a DT calendar will be provided)
2. Our 2 out of town designers will post to the Store Blog on their specific posting dates. General explanations of products used from the store as well as general instructions should be in the blog posts. (We will post local designers work to the store blog.)
3. Photos of projects must be clear and taken in good lighting. We understand you are not professional photographers, but quality photos can be easily achieved.
4. If you don't mind sharing your work, DT members are encouraged to post their work on other social media sites and galleries.
5. Participate in our private Design Team Facebook Group.

Design Team Benefits:

Every month design team members will be provided with a design team pack chosen by the store owner. All design team members will receive 20% at Speedy Scrappers during their term. (Out of town designers can contact the store and use their discount as well. Products purchased will ship with their design team packs free!) Local designers also have the opportunity to teach in the store, allowing them to earn money! In addition, local designers, and out of town designers, if they ever visit our area, can attend all of our in store crops free during their term!

Design Team term will run until August 31^st, 2014.
